From The Desk Of Beatrix Lamarr
They call it “artificial intelligence,” but let’s not pretend it’s neutral.
Every advancement in AI opens a door and reveals a shadow.
For female entrepreneurs, AI is an undeniable power tool: automations that cut busywork, agents that scale your offers, platforms that let you build your business without gatekeepers. A woman with a laptop can build an empire.
But that same power, built on systems designed by men and trained on bias, scales harm too. Deepfakes are getting harder to detect. Online abuse is escalating. And AI agents now promise to “run your life,” while quietly collecting your deepest and most personal information.
I believe in this technology. I believe women must be at the forefront of it.
But I also believe in reading the fine print because the price of progress is often paid by the most vulnerable.
Enjoy today’s issue, but approach AI with your eyes wide open.
I'm a very simple, complicated person

HER POWER BRIEF
💄 UN Report: AI Drives New Wave Of Digital Abuse
When AI , Anonymity and Weak Accountability Meet, Online Harassment Surges
The rise of AI has made online abuse faster, more targeted, and harder to trace, and women are the primary targets.
Deepfake porn now accounts for 95% of manipulated media — and 99% of those targeted are women.
Built by male-dominated teams, many of these tools aren’t even trained on male faces.
UN Women is calling for urgent action: more women in AI, stronger safeguards, and swift content removal.
But will anything change? According to one global survey, 38% of women have experienced online violence, and 85% have witnessed it.
Stay tuned and stay safe out there.
“What begins online doesn’t stay online. Digital abuse spills into real life, spreading fear, silencing voices, and - in the worst cases - leading to physical violence and femicide.”
—UN Women Executive Director Sima Bahous.

AI Agents are on the rise, but know the risks
At the AI for Good Summit, Meredith Whittaker and Kenneth Cukier unpacked the growing risks of agentic AI — systems that promise to “manage your life” but require unprecedented access to calendars, messages, and financial data. As convenience blurs into surveillance, they called for urgent regulation, privacy-by-design, and real guardrails to prevent a catastrophic erosion of digital autonomy.
